A glimpse into the future library and museum
Arizona State University is the home of the Senator John S. McCain Papers. This collection includes textual, digital, and visual records dating from 1971 to 2018, compiled over his career in political service as representative from Arizona’s 1st District in the United States House of Representatives, as United States Senator from Arizona, and as a two-time candidate for President of the United States. This collection includes over 2,200 boxes of files and an additional 1.1 Terabytes of digital records, covering areas that include legislation, administration, press and media materials, photographs, correspondence and campaign materials.
With the John S. McCain Papers as a cornerstone collection, the McCain Library will honor his legacy of public service through discovery, engagement and research with materials spanning hundreds of years of American political history. ASU holds a wide range of Arizona political and Congressional collections, making the McCain Library a center for scholarship and learning about leadership and democracy.
The site will also include an immersive museum exploring archival materials, detailing McCain’s life from his time as a prisoner of war and flying as a naval aviator, to running for office and serving Arizona.
